About Me

Hi, my name is Angela and welcome to my blog. This is a place where I write about my life in an honest and open way.

I am 36 years old, single, and a Christian. God gave me a heart to work with children and so I spend my day teaching kindergarten. It is my fourth year teaching and although it is hard I love it. I currently go to a college for my BA in Elementary Education which keeps me busy. Between work and school there is not much time left but I enjoy serving and helping others, watching netflix, or reading a good book.

Christmas Gifts #2

My eldest nephew Kalvin loves basketball.
I started out with a couple basketball magazines and found some pics that would work together.

I painted the edges of the canvas black. I cut out circles from scrapbook paper.

I started around the edges and worked my way in.

Here is the back ground. The Mod Podge is still wet so you can see the white spots.

Here I have added on the images from the magazines.

On the bottom I added a dark orange paint. I used three brushes to create dotes around the edges. Afterward I added stickers to spell out basketball and mod podged over them to make them stick.

I worked on multiple paintings at the same time.

My nephew Garrett enjoys BMX'ing. I had seen an image on Pinterest with newsprint in the background and a black shadow image on top.

I used Christian scrapbook paper to Mod Podge on the canvas.

I printed an image from google images and cut it out.

I taped the image of the skateboarder and city and then traced it. I then removed the taped images and painted in.

I painted all of the edges around as well.

I wasn't sure what to do for Isaiah and then figured it out, Star Wars.

I started with printing an image of the words in Star Wars style.

Next I went to Star Wars Magazines and found images to use.

I cut out the Star Wars letters and started placing images behind the letters.

It took some time but seemed to all fit together. I tried my best to make sure I had a wide variety of images.

Next I had to Mod Podge down the images.

Here are the pictures down without the letters.

I used a painting pen to create the yellow lines.

I then painted around the yellow lines with black paint. The letters did turn out a little funny but it was tough getting the images put down in the right spots. I think it is pretty close.

This last one was for my nephew Tirso. He is only five but I really liked the idea and so I went with it anyways.

I had to start by figuring out how I would piece together the names. I started out with just the five kids names and then switched to adding my sister and brother-in-laws names as well. I got it so all of the names I are linked to Tirso with April and Josh's names off from his. I really liked how it worked out.

I then had to find the placement on a crossword board.

It took many try's to get it right.

I didn't have a brown and so I tried to create one. As you see it turned out more gray then brown but in person it is a little more brown then you see here. After the paint was dry I figured out spacing and started making lines.

I made the grid.

I then had to start painting the white lines.

I found the spots for the letters and colored them in. (After buying a new brown.)

I then added the colors of the board on it. I then put stickers on each of the letter squares. I had a hard enough time drawing the lines I didn't want to try and draw the letters too. I used Mod Podge to keep the letters down. It really needed something else and so I added Scrabble letters on the sides .

Christmas Gifts #1

The following are the crafts for my sister, niece, and brother-in-law.

I start with a quote.

I decoupage/mod podge the background. Then find sticker letters to put down.

I painted the canvas purple and peeled off the letters. It needed something more so I added the below swirls and used white to highlight them.

This is what it looks like. It was still missing something. I added the three flowers to it and it was perfect (They are on the top picture.)

The following is my niece's painting. I used scrapbook paper and cut it in various sizes of circles. Using Mod Podge I placed the circles on the canvas.

I had initially wanted to cover it like my sisters but the background was so pretty I placed the stickers on top. The stickers are glittery. The black letters did not show up on the pink and black so I added in some silver letters on those spots. The quote is from a song by Jamie Grace.

The following is what I made for my brother-in-law.

This to I saw on Pinterest and was inspired.

I started with small glass ornament.

I add a little water to thin out the acrylic paint. I then pour in paint and swirl the paint around to cover the sides.
For the gray ornament I had to mix white and black paint.
I then place the ornaments upside down to drain out the spare paint.

I printed out logo's from a google image search.

With an exacto knife I cut out each logo.
I attempted to do a Spider-man logo but the legs were too thin and I cut off the legs.

I used a a mini sticker maker I got for $10 at Walmart to make the logo's stickers.

Here they are ready to ship.
